Luau. A Hawaiian feast.
There is nothing quite like a Hawaiian Luau. In ancient times the people of Hawaii would gather together to celebrate an auspicious occasion with a feast that often went on for many days. These elaborate feasts were meant to impress & honor visiting foreign dignitaries, royalty, & powerful Island chieftains. They were also held to celebrate the arrival of a new baby, or a bountiful harvest or a great victory in war, but above all they were given to offer thanks to the Hawaiian Gods. No war or work went on during this time. Luau guests sat on mats on the ground, with food piled high in front of them. They ate, danced, drank, sang & ate some more. They believed that prosperity should be shared with family & friends – a feast not only of food, drink, dance & song, but also of the spirit of aloha.

Today, a luau is a great way to bring your family and friends together to celebrate life. Dance, laugh, eat, drink, & enjoy the company of loved ones. Hawaiian Luau Party captures all those songs that nearly every visitor to Hawaii wants to hear over & over again. All the enchantment of Hawaiian hospitality is captured in these authentic recordings.

The words and the music speak of the lure of tropical Hawaii. They whisper romance. They conjure up pleasant exotic dreams. Flickering Tiki torches light the way to radiant images of beautiful hula girls dancing, balmy tradewinds blowing, bare feet & soft white sand, the intoxicating scent of fresh plumeria leis piled high around your neck, the sweet cool taste of a tall tropical drink decorated with brightly colored paper umbrellas and exotic fruit garnishes, thatched roofs and palm trees swaying. Enjoyment & pleasure await you. Carefree days & romantic nights. A delightful spell of happiness and laughter. Catch it at your next Hawaiian Luau Party.

Music & dance have always played an important role in Hawaiian culture. At your luau party, plan to make dancing fun. Let your guests know that they are inviting to join in and that anything goes. Have a good time & let it all hang loose.

The Hawaiian lei has also played an important role in Hawaiian culture. The lei is a symbol of love, friendship, gratitude, & esteem. You might want to have a lei making group activity at your luau party.

Spear throwing contests are held to display strength & skill. Whichever contestant throws the spear the farthest & the most accurately wins. Conch blowing is also a traditional luau activity. Blowing a conch shell takes more skill than you can imagine. How do you purse your lips & where do you place them for the best sound? How hard do you blow? Conch blowing should make for lots of hilarious sounds of pseudo bravado.

Non-traditional activities, but just as entertaining, would be the classic Limbo. How low can you go? And Pass the Coconut chin to chin without using your hands and without dropping it.

And don’t forget the hula skirts! Dance, laugh, eat, drink & enjoy the company of loved ones! Celebrate life at your Hawaiian Luau Party!
