Legends of Waikiki

<click cover to purchase>

From the original "Bell Records of Hawaii" catalog of recordings dating back to 1944 and originally released on 78 rpm. On this 18 song compilation, we have brought together some of the most famous of the "Bell Records" artists with the most popular and famous versions of their songs. The original version of Gabby Pahinui’s signature song "Hi’ilawe". John K. Almeida and Pua Almeida with the Club Pago Pago Orchestra, giving you the rousing Big Band sound of postwar Honolulu. "Waikiki Chickadee", a fabulous little ditty performed by George Tautu Archer and his Pagans. An extraordinary recording, written and performed by Andy Cummings, "Waikiki" will make you yearn for "that magic beside the sea". Great Hawaiian songs performed in English and Hawaiian.
