Imagine
post WWII Hawaii with its huge population of Americans of Japanese
Ancestry and their immigrant parents. Sometime in the early 1950s, the
post WWII climate had cooled down and it seemed all right for
Japanese-Americans in Hawaii to try and get back in touch with their
cultural roots. This music by Club Nisei, Hawaii’s first Nisei orchestra
to begin performing following WWII helped them to do just that. A
fabulous Japanese romp through 1950s Hawaii! These four companion albums:
Sayonara Farewell Tokyo (LP 3450), Modern Songs of Japan (LP 3451),
Holiday In Japan (LP 3452), and To Remember Japan (LP 3453)
were
originally released on 49th State Hawaii Records.
